This September, “Made in Barna” has been released for the first time on vinyl

This is the first album by La Kinky Beat and Kasba Music, which sold more than 5,000 copies 20 years ago
This marks the start of the months dedicated to the fusion and Barcelona sound of the label’s vinyl collection

Kasba Music continues with the vinyl collection commemorating its 20th anniversary and this September the months dedicated to fusion and the Barcelona sound begin with the vinyl edition of its first album, “Made in Barna” by La Kinky Beat, which will be followed by a compilation of Color Humano (“Zumo de vida”, October 18th), the compilation “Barcelona Sound”(November 8th) and, to close the collection, “Topa Iñigo!” (December 5th), the tribute to Iñigo Muguruza.

“La Kinky Beat was formed by Matahary, Willy Fuego (both singers) and Gerard (drummer, member of Radio Bemba), together with Donato and Manel (bassist and percussionist of the already legendary Barcelona band Trimelón), who were later joined by Madjid (guitar, from Radio Bemba). In just one year they have become one of the reference bands of mixed music in Barcelona.

After a first season of continuous touring throughout almost the entire Peninsula, plus Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Switzerland and Belgium, La Kinky Beat has dedicated part of the spring to preparing their first album, which will be published on September 13 by Kasba Music and distributed by K Industria.

The album includes 15 songs that move between rock steady, reggae, punk and the wildest side of fusion music, has an exquisite design by Ferzeta (who had already collaborated with Trimelón) and has been produced by Stephane Carteaux (producer of Cheb Balowski or Trimelón among others) together with David Bourguignon (musician of Radio Bemba who has also performed sporadically with La Kinky) and the group itself. Among the collaborations we find some friends who already recorded on the demo, such as David himself (guitar), Arecio Smith (keyboard, currently performing live with the group) or Petete (trombone), and some companions on the road such as Yacine (Cheb Balowski), Gambeat (Radio Bemba) or Muchachito (Trimelón).”

This was the promotional sheet for this album published on September 13, 2004, and which marked a turning point in the Barcelona sound or mestizo scene. The text accompanied an agenda that included 33 dates in the following 4 months, playing stages in Brussels, Amsterdam and thirty towns in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain. The initial groups (Color Humano, Dusminguet…) were coming to an end and La Kinky Beat exploded internationally, performing at the biggest festivals in Europe (Glastonbury, Roskilde…) and Latin America (Rock al Parque…).

On the occasion of this release, Kasba Music has uploaded a full concert of the band, belonging to that presentation tour, to its YouTube channel.
