- “Potlatch” will undoubtedly be one of the surprises of the season
- The debut album by the Catalan band Incendi Kif delivers a powerful showcase of tense, confrontational rock
- The band also carries out strong interdisciplinary work, presenting their music alongside contemporary dance and audiovisual pieces
Incendi Kif aims to be a musical shock to fuel resistance against predatory capitalism. The echo of rock in the valleys and of wild poetry in the mountains. Moving between hardcore, punk, and the most eclectic hard rock, they are the silent voice that screams from the most animal instincts of the human being. Art as subversive agitation. Everyone and no one.
We can’t keep waiting. We must stoke the fire. Feed the flames.
Enough festivals, enough awards, enough of the same five shitty bands playing all the time. The world is collapsing, and we can’t leave music in the hands of four lousy managers who live off the fracking of culture. Music must make us feel alive, connected to the fire. It must force us to live in the present, consumed by the flames of rituals that break away from market logic.
We must take back the weapons. The guitar kills fascists, and we know how to use it better than anyone. Striking a drum kit is the perfect physical training to release the energy we need to stretch the dimension of time. We walk a tightrope over the bassline because it trembles, and we like the risk. Enough festivals, enough awards, enough of the same five shitty bands playing all the time. Let’s activate a cultural front that becomes the soundtrack of the next uprising. Let our wild rituals become the mines in a field where the powerful, the greedy, the selfish, and the hypocrites are trapped.
Potlatch. A game. A celebration. An offering that demands a greater offering in return. A gift that escapes the logic of accumulation. From the giving of a necklace to the burning of a village. What are you going to do? Property versus honor. Which side are you on?
So, we activate the chain. We spread the flames. Let our rituals force our comrades to respond with others of greater value. From a small concert in an unknown venue in some random town to the burning of a football field. A guitar riff that ends by toppling the statue of Columbus.
Grupo Incendi works to create a new cultural front that fuels revolt. We, Incendi Kif, are the musical faction of Grupo Incendi. With fire and distortion, we come to spread current struggles, shake your consciousness, and make you dance under thermal cameras. We will be a mass of heat in motion. We melt the screens. We will dance. We will dance together to think about the next action!
Here is this record. Listen to it at home, in the car, in an abandoned lot. Call out radio programmers until it’s playing nonstop.
And come see us.
Enough thinking about tomorrow. Let’s live now. Tonight. Dive into the flames.
