  • L’Ivo makes his public debut with “Honest intent de recuperar l’èpica perduda”
  • Rock in Catalan, with touches of metal, industrial textures and a steampunk-leaning aesthetic
  • L’Ivo is the alter ego of Iván Ledesma, a seasoned writer and screenwriter with close to 30 years’ experience as a singer

After a long career in literature and film, writer and screenwriter Iván Ledesma returns to his roots with a new record under the name L’IVO, a musical alter ego born from the desire to explore more visceral, direct and intimate territory. His work as a creator of genre projects has been defined by the building of personal universes, a dark view of the human condition and a constant search for new ways of telling stories. This project carries that same restlessness over into music.

“Honest intent de recuperar l’èpica perduda” is a record that resists any label. Punk, hardcore, rock, metal and industrial textures coexist effortlessly in a work that embraces genre-mixing as an artistic statement. In a landscape where Catalan-language music tends to be tied to a few very specific aesthetics, L’IVO speaks up for a scene that has endured for years outside the media spotlight, yet has always drawn a strong following at home. Aggressive guitars, hard-hitting drums, electronics, dark melodies and an unapologetic production shape a record that recaptures the nonconformist spirit of hard-hitting rock without giving up melodic sensitivity. The lyrics are the emotional core of the project, dealing with fear, loss, contradiction, rage, memory and the need to keep moving forward. They are introspective texts that avoid artifice and aim for a direct connection with the listener.

Iván Ledesma is the author of novels for adults, children and young readers (he won the Joaquim Ruyra Prize for young adult literature in 2017), as well as comics and genre fiction, from fantasy and horror to psychological thriller.
Some of his work has been translated and published in countries including Portugal, Brazil and Turkey. Alongside his literary career, he writes for film and develops audiovisual projects for streaming platforms and production companies.

As a singer, he was a member of Radio Raheem, who released three albums and toured throughout Spain in the early 2000s, and later fronted bands such as Nan Roig and Lost Romanes, all with records released through various labels.
