Fermin Muguruza reaches 80% of the capacity of the Palau Sant Jordi three months before the concert
The guest band will be GAILU, with members of the legendary hardcore group BAP!! or Negu Gorriak, among others.
Tickets are on sale at www.muguruzafm.eus
With three months for the date, 80% of the tickets for the concert that Fermin Muguruza will offer at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona have already been sold. In addition, in what promises to be a historic night, the band that will open the concert will be GAILU, the band of Mikel Txopeitia (drummer of Negu Gorriak, Fermin Muguruza or the historic Basque hardcore group BAP!!).
After 11 years without international tours, the Basque artist is back on the road with a world tour where he will review his entire musical career of 40 years. The announced concerts, which can be consulted at www.muguruzafm.eus, will serve to celebrate the life journey from the beginnings of Kortatu and Negu Gorriak to his most recent solo works.
In Muguruza’s words, Barcelona has always been a special place for him. Throughout his career he has established an intense relationship with the city of Barcelona, and his residence in Sant Andreu during the first part of 2017 even helped him learn Catalan and strengthen his bond with this land. And now, in addition, three Catalan musicians accompany him on this adventure: Miryam “Matah” (vocals), Gloria Maurel (drums) and Gerard “Chalart58” (percussion and dub).
The Barcelona concert will be one of the most multitudinous that the artist will offer during this tour, together with those of the Wizink Center in Madrid and the Anoeta stadium in Donostia. And Muguruza has already managed to sell 80% of the capacity of the Palau Sant Jordi, ensuring that it will be a historic night. Tickets are still on sale at www.muguruzafm.eus.
This 40th anniversary comes at a special time, as the Spanish media and judicial right has once again launched its offensive against Muguruza. In response to this, Muguruza will claim her career and legacy. At the Barcelona concert she will recall, among other topics, the solid and committed work of the Kortatu and Negu Gorriak era or her solo evolution. Muguruza has claimed that it will be a night full of historic songs.
The artist highlights that this tour will be something more than a simple sequence of concerts, as it will serve to use music as a tool for expression and social change.
GAILU
Gailu is a trio formed by Okene (vocals and samplers), his brother Mikel (drums, vocals, samplers) and Drake (bass, double bass, vocals and txistu). The project was made known at the end of the 20th century, but had been in hiding until Anari decided to take a break. And why now? Because Mikel Txopeitia, whose drums have propelled from Negu Gorriak to Muguruza’s solo steps, BAP and Inoren ero Ni, has devoted himself to Anari’s group in recent years.
Born around the Esan Ozenki label and at the peak of the recording activity linked to Fermín Muguruza, the power trio delivers a repertoire that is difficult to classify in which the roots of the Basque rural world collide and are contaminated with current projects such as Sleafords Mods and electronic street airs, rock, punk and hip hop.
