One month to go until Fermin Muguruza’s historic concert at the Palau Sant Jordi
The tour celebrating his forty-year career began last week in the Basque Country
After a tribute concert to his brother Iñigo in Biarritz, 16,000 people enjoyed two memorable concerts in Bilbao
After 11 years without touring internationally, the Basque artist has returned to the road with a world tour in which he is reviewing his entire 40-year musical career. The announced concerts, which can be viewed at www.muguruzafm.eus, serve to celebrate his life journey from the beginnings of Kortatu and Negu Gorriak to his most recent solo works.
In Muguruza’s words, Barcelona has always been a special place for him. Throughout his career he has established an intense relationship with the city of Barcelona, and his residence in Sant Andreu during the first part of 2017 even helped him learn Catalan and strengthen his bond with this land.
The Barcelona concert will be one of the most multitudinous concerts that the artist will offer during this tour, together with those at the Wizink Center in Madrid and the Anoeta stadium in Donostia.
The tour began in Biarritz on December 17, the date on which his brother Iñigo would have turned 60, to continue with two memorable concerts in Bilbao, in front of a total of 16,000 people who enjoyed an unforgettable show, with collaborations from various artists and with a compact band in which three Barcelonans participate: Miryam “Matah” (vocals), Gloria Maurel (drums) and Gerard “Chalart58” (percussion and dub).
On such an emotional evening, the band that will open the night is none other than Gailu, a band formed by his friend and companion for more than half of his career, Mikel Abrego, drummer of Negu Gorriak among many other groups.
