- The first single and music video from Apuestos Opuestos are now available on streaming platforms
- The group made their public debut last Thursday at a packed press conference at the SGAE headquarters in Madrid
- The band is made up of around fifteen retired individuals with intellectual disabilities
On Thursday, March 19th, Apuestos Opuestos were officially presented at the SGAE headquarters in Madrid. The musical group was born in 2022 at the AFANIAS Espacio Abierto day center, with the support and coordination of the association Carabanchel Distrito Cultural.
The band consists of 13 artists with intellectual disabilities, all retired, who are claiming their place, their love for music, and their determination to push boundaries in an often challenging world. Alongside them are three supporting musicians and vocalists, including Daniel Montero, the composer and creative force behind the project. Apuestos Opuestos have built their own repertoire blending original songs and musical adaptations with a distinct Jamaican flavor, brought to life through a festive, high-energy show that aims to make the audience feel like part of the band itself.
The members have proven they can rise to any challenge. After recording these songs with the discipline and focus that a professional recording studio demands, the time has come to release their debut track: “Persigue tus sueños” (Chase Your Dreams).
The song is a preview of their upcoming EP, set to drop on April 24th, and the accompanying video is a collage of footage from the recording sessions alongside clips from a live concert.
