Following the success of their second album “Rincones de nadie” which racked up over two and a half million streams on Spotify in under a year, Periferia now presents a six-track record that seeks to make peace with the most fragile parts within all of us. Lo que queda por sentir (What remains to be felt) is a cry for vulnerability, but rather than approaching it from a place of pessimism or despair, it does so through a lens that is life-affirming, optimistic, and fresh.
The album opens with their first two singles: the title track, “Lo que queda por sentir”, which has already surpassed 100,000 streams on Spotify in just over a month, and “Si no existe la libertad”. These are followed by the band’s first Catalan-language song, “Pacte de sang”, a tribute to Pol, Quel, Pep, Climent, and Berta; to Periferia themselves. For everything they’ve lived through, and for everything still to come along the path the present keeps opening up. If it’s all going to end someday, we’ll make sure it was worth it.
The fourth track, “O.V.N.I.” (U.F.O.), reaches out a hand to help you find a better place. In the song, a UFO descends to Earth and offers to take you away from this world. Speaking of the song, there are many kinds of UFOs: inner voices, people, opportunities, things that arrive and open a door leading somewhere you could have never imagined.
“En reconstrucción” speaks to the internal dialogue we carry on with ourselves throughout our entire lives. Introspection has no endpoint, it’s constant. Since no one can escape their own ghosts or their inner voice, we must learn to make peace with our pain and our depths, alongside all the lessons that keep finding their way to us.
Closing the album is “Este instante”, a collaboration with Cala Vento. Its message is about the calm after the storm: you are exactly where you want to be, and you hadn’t even realized it until now. You could swear it, right now you have everything you need. This moment is yours. Make the most of it before it slips away.
All signs point to Periferia having firmly established themselves as a force in the new Spanish rock scene, and their extensive upcoming tour makes that clear. It will take them to some of the most beloved festival stages across the country, including Iruña Rock, Telecogresca, Aupa Lumbreiras, Cruïlla, Juergas, and Pirata Festival.
Because there’s still so much left to feel…
