Apuestos Opuestos, the group formed by 13 people with intellectual disabilities, releases their debut EP

Following their debut single and video (“Persigue tus sueños”, released a month and a half ago), APUESTOS OPUESTOS, a thirteen-piece band made up of retired people with intellectual disabilities who attend the Afanias Espacio Abierto day centre, present two new tracks with a rocksteady and Jamaican music feel: the love song that gives the EP its title, “Pichurri“, and “El papa hinchable”, joined by the already-released “Persigue tus sueños” to complete the record.

Alongside the support of the Afanias association, Apuestos Opuestos have won over the Carabanchel Distrito Cultural association and figures from the cultural world, such as “Indio” (director of the Gruta 77 venue), who is producing the band’s songs, and Javier Coronas (comedian), who served as master of ceremonies at the launch of the group’s first single. If there is one thing this project has, it is the power to move people.

For this release, they collaborated with audiovisual director Gerardo Yllera, who brought the “Pichurri” music video to life by filming the band’s arrival at the Manzanares river, at the point where Carabanchel begins, and following them as they crossed the district all the way to the Instituto Puerta Bonita, where the EP was recorded. Along the way, they passed through some of the area’s most iconic spots, both classic and contemporary.

Apuestos Opuestos is a special project, one that aims to make visible the often-overlooked potential of individuals, while fostering social cohesion and building self-esteem through artistic creation.

Apuestos Opuestos’ next concert will take place on June 14th at midday, at an event organised by Afanias at the famous Madrid flea market, El Rastro.
