DINGO: Andalusian melodies over electronic beats and mestizo rhythms. “Se la llevó el río” is out now!

  • Carlos Dingo and Isa García have a long musical career that began in Granada in the late 90s
  • This Friday they release “Bronco y mestizo”, their second album as Dingo
  • It blends Andalusian melodies with Caribbean rhythms through electronic music

Dingo are Carlos and Isa, or Isa and Carlos… Carlos Dingo and Isa García, to be precise. “Bronco y mestizo” is their second album, though they’ve been making music together for almost thirty years. They met even before forming Los Dingos, a Granada ska band that worked with Wild Punk and released an album through Germany’s Mad Butcher label. They went on to form Red Soul Community, taking them into reggae and giving them a full taste of life on the international circuit: gigs in Germany, France, Portugal, Belgium and the Czech Republic, and records on labels from all over the world (Golden Singles, Jewel, Liquidator, Casual, Grover, Jump Up…).

Last Friday, they shared “Se la llevó el río”, a single and video previewing the album, which arrives this Friday, 30 October. The track stands out for its flamenco-tinged melodies over a fusion of Caribbean rhythms and electronic music.

The album, “Bronco y Mestizo”, gathers 13 songs made to get people moving, spread positive energy and carry a message of freedom and unity. It was recorded and produced at Carlos Dingo’s own studio, and he, a multi-instrumentalist, played every instrument and even did the illustrations and album design. The vocals, naturally, come from Isa García, a well-known punk frontwoman on the Granada underground circuit. The only outside collaboration is the very young voice of Lorena Marín.
